International Highland Games
returns to Carmunnock
On May 31st 2009 the long awaited
International Highland Games will return to Carmunnock. Eight international
athletes, local heroes and kids' events will turn the King George V playing
fields into a historic site for feats of strength, stamina and power, as well
as great fun! Pipe band and Highland dancers will entertain us throughout the
day, while the kids can watch the events or enjoy the bouncy castle and play
area. For the bigger kids there will of course be a fantastic beer arena
provided by Carmunnock Village Recreation Club and plenty of food and snacks
available. Events will include the Caber toss, Pole push, Atlas stones and
log lift, with local "heroes" invited to compete among their peers!
(Please contact the committee at
highland_games@btinternet.com,if you fancy a go).
Tickets will be priced very reasonably at £4
for Adults, £10 for a Family ticket (2 adults/2 kids) and £2 for OAPs,
advance tickets include a free Commemorative programme (£2 if purchased on the
day) and will be available in the village or from one of the team who will
be coming round the village over the next couple of weeks. Again, contact the
committee at
