The
community goes back to the 6th century and now has a population of around 1550. Some of the houses are brand new, whilst others are from the 20th, 19th and 18th century and even a few cottages from the 1690’s still remain. That's why most of the centre of Carmunnock is now a conservation area.
If you'd like to find out more, we recommend you secure a copy of the Carmunnock Heritage Trail from the local shop and perhaps follow that up with a walk on a village guided tour.
In these days when building land is becoming increasingly scarce, the Community Council in Carmunnock is passionate about working closely with its Preservation Society and Glasgow's City Council to preserve the village way of life and its surrounding greenbelt for the benefit of the city and village folk alike.
The Community Council also provides a service to the local community by acting on issues of interest or concern for residents and developing and supporting community initiatives.
